Youth Activist Workshop: Breaking the Chain

Trade Unions in Tanzania, as elsewhere on the continent and worldwide, suffer from the fact that unionism is not as appealing anymore to the majority of young people and workers.



Accountability and Monitoring of Public Resources in Songea

In a bid to promote youth engagement in accountability and monitoring of public resources, from 26th to 27th April 2019, FES Tanzania in collaboration with alumni of its Young Leaders Forum, organized a training with representatives from civil society organizations and political parties in Songea region. The meeting aimed to raise awareness on how youth can engage in the decision making process and track the public expenditure systems. They were enabled with the knowledge and skills on how to conduct Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) and Public Expenditure Tracking Systems (PETs).




Pre Budget Youth Dialogue

In a spirit of inclusion and citizen participation in the budget process, FES Tanzania in collaboration with Wezesha Foundation organized a pre-budget dialogue where young men and women from different youth organizations based in Dar es Salaam participated.



Strengthening Social Protection Systems in Tanzania

In a bid to strengthen Tanzania's Social Protection System FES Tanzania, in partnership with the Prime Minister’s Office, hosted a workshop at Harbor View Hotel in Dar es Salaam on 10th-11th December, 2018. The event brought together 40 social protection stakeholders from government ministries and agencies, national and international civil society organizations, UN agencies, trade unions and academia where Legal framework, regional & country experiences in sub-Saharan Africa and the importance of inclusion of women were some of the topics discussed.



Tanzania Feminist Forum

Under the motto and hashtag “NiSisiWenyewe” (#it is ourselves), TGNP Mtandao in collaboration with FES Tanzania launched a forum for critical reflection and action for feminists from diverse societal spheres and background in Tanzania. Higher Learning Institutions, Women’s rights organization, Trade unions, Private sector, Media Knowledge centers, Youth initiatives, CSO’s, Creative arts and women Forums (GDSSS) were present for a two day forum in Dar es Salaam from 6th to 7th December 2018.



TUCTA Training for Newly Elected Leaders

From the 23rd to the 24th October 2018, newly elected leaders of the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) participated in a training to enable them to address their internal and external challenges with more efficient structures and competent public contributions.



CCM Constituency Workshop

In Tanzania half of the population belongs to the youth. By 2030 every 2nd Tanzanian will be 18 years old or younger. This leads to a lot of challenges for the local government and also for the Tanzanian youth. Two main demands are the need to create jobs in order to fight poverty, as well as strengthening the entrepreneurial potential of women and youth.
