General Information on Internships at FES Tanzania

FES Tanzania offers the possibilites to join our team as an intern for a period of a three months (maximum) on a full time basis. You will become part of a small team and have the opportunity to gain relevant work experience in an international organization working in the field of democratization, political dialogue and social justice. During the internship, you will work with the FES team and its partners and support our staff in activity implementation, communication, general administration and research tasks. FES Tanzania strives to offer internships to both international and national applicants in order to enhance intercultural learning and cooperation.

Eligibility

Prospective candidates should

  • Hold a degree in Bachelor of Arts (or higher) in political sciences, social sciences, development studies, economics, African studies, or related fields
  • Hemonstrate an interest in political and social issues
  • Be dedicated and interested to work in a small team in which your ideas and own initiative are welcomed
  • Fluent in English (both oral and in writing) - this is a mandatory requirement.

  • Your CV (max. two pages) - letters of recommendation are optional.

Applicants from abroad should consider the following additional costs which FES cannot sponsor:

  • Travel costs to and from Tanzania
  • International health insurance – this is a mandatory requirement and will be checked before your arrival in the country
  • Housing and general living expenses in Dar es Salaam
  • Costs for visa and residence permits

Furthermore, FES Tanzania encourages international interns to be covered with an international third party liability and accident insurance as we cannot be held liable as an organization in case of personal loss or damage during the internship period.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply seven to nine months in advance of the desired internship period.
