The Young Citizens Forum (formely known as the Young Leaders Forums) is an inclusive program that addresses social, economic, and political challenges at local, regional, and global levels. It serves as a platform for talented and engaged young individuals, including political activists, who are dedicated to promoting social justice and democracy. Since its inception in the year 2000, the program has been actively conducted in Tanzania, boasting a network of over 500 alumni who currently hold influential leadership positions in the country.
The program takes place at the FES office in Dar es Salaam, with sessions held for two to three days per month over a period of 8 to 9 months. To be eligible for participation, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Age requirement: Applicants should be between 21 and 35 years old.
- Nationality and residency: Only Tanzanian citizens currently residing in Tanzania (including both the Mainland and Zanzibar) will be considered. Applicants must be present in the country throughout the duration of the program.
- Education: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively, those pursuing their first degree at the time of application are also eligible.
- Involvement in initiatives: Candidates should demonstrate their engagement in a project, initiative, or participation in civil society, political parties, or trade unions.
